As a tropical destination, Belize does have bugs and mosquitoes. However, the prevailing breezes on Ambergris Caye help keep them at bay. Sand flies, or noseeums, are tiny creatures that bite like mosquitoes and can emerge at dusk when there is little or no breeze. We recommend bringing DEET-based insect repellent. You may also want to pack hydrocortisone cream and/or Benadryl to soothe any potential itches.
All foreign nationals are required to have a valid passport to enter Belize. While citizens of the United States, Canada, and most Western European countries do not need a visa, citizens of certain countries do. Please refer to your home country’s governmental travel requirements and secure any necessary documents before your travel date.
While water safety is a crucial concern for international travelers, Caribeville possesses its own purified water source. Many deem the water from the tap or refrigerator dispensers (equipped with charcoal filters) within our condos perfectly safe to drink. However, we recommend guests consume only bottled water, particularly those with more sensitive systems. Please be aware that tap water in all locations in Belize may be unsafe to drink. Most restaurants provide bottled water for this reason.
Belize typically experiences two main seasons: the Winter Season, which is mild and relatively dry, and the Summer Season, characterized by warmer and occasionally humid conditions. The official rainy season extends from June through November. Owing to its proximity to the sea and the influence of prevailing trade winds, Ambergris Caye enjoys milder temperatures than mainland Belize, with daytime temperatures in the low to mid-80s and evening temperatures in the high 70s. Simply perfect!

Belize, including its outlying islands, is considered a safe country. However, like any travel destination, tourists should exercise a degree of caution. We advise against carrying large sums of cash, wearing conspicuous jewelry, or walking alone at night. In essence, utilize common sense and sound judgment for a secure and enjoyable trip.
